Why Did We Create the Design Builders Showroom?

Like every decision we make at Design Builders, we created the showroom with our clients in mind. When you come into our showroom, you get a much more personalized experience.

  • See individual products. You might think you love a certain composite decking or outdoor cabinetry brand. Until you see that product in person, you won’t know for sure if it offers the look, feel, and functionality you’re after.

In the showroom, you can interact with the pieces you’re considering, see the quality, and feel more confident in your product choices before committing to anything. Samples are also on hand to take home.

  • Get exactly what you want. By walking through the showroom with your design and build team, you can discuss in real time what products you like and don’t like. As your team makes project and product suggestions throughout the design phase, this is invaluable information for ensuring you get an end product you love for years down the line.

Having a showroom also cuts down on any confusion around products. In the past, if we sent people to local shops to check out products, it wasn’t always the exact model they had in mind. Having these products in our own showroom means what our clients see is what they will actually get in their homes.

  • Have a more comprehensive experience. When COVID protocols removed any in-person contact, the best we could do for our customers was to ship them product samples. However, seeing those pieces out of context wasn’t always that helpful. Being able to view fully built outdoor living spaces in person offers a much better experience for what that final product is going to look and feel like. All this leads to product and design choices that better suit our clients’ lives.

  • Learn your options. There might be products or design features you didn’t even know were available. Railings, windows, ceilings, screens, lighting.  Walking through fully built screened-in porches or outdoor kitchens educates you about what’s on the market today and lets you get inspired and excited for your project.

  • Meet the design team in person. This is probably the most important piece of the entire experience. You’re going to be working closely and collaboratively with our team to get your custom outdoor living space exactly how you want it. You need and want to trust their expertise, their experience. See the quality of their work, and hear their ideas. This is where we believe you’ll see that Design Builders is who you want to trust with your project.

When Will You See the Showroom?

The showroom is available to view by appointment only. When you’re considering working with Design Builders, here’s how our meeting process goes:

  • Initial meeting: For your initial meeting, Design Builders offers either an in person and virtual consult.  This first meeting is an introduction for both of us.   We will discuss things like style, property challenges, design approach, availability, budget, and our fit for your jobs needs, before getting too far down the line.
  • Proposal meeting: If our first meeting was virtual, this is an opportunity for us to come out to your home and meet in person.  This meeting is when we will begin to discuss details.  You will find our process to be very collaborative process, as we create your custom outdoor living space.
  • Third meeting: We invite you to our showroom in Ijamsville, MD. It’s a chance to get to know the people you will be working with directly, to see the expected quality of craftsmanship, and to see/touch the products and materials you’re considering.

What Will You See in the Showroom?

Here’s a quick rundown of what you’ll see as you walk through our showroom:

  • First room: When you first walk in, you’ll see a nice layout of Danver cabinets on AZEK decking. The cabinetry has an integrated Evo griddle and Big Green Egg
  • Second room: Continuing on, you’ll find a display of ZähBuilt outdoor cabinetry with Dekton countertops and a Blaze grill. This sits atop another display of AZEK decking.
  • Railing display: Along the wall, find two sections of railing with integrated low-voltage lighting. (Depending on your county, grab rails are a requirement for any stairs with more than three steps. So, it’s a good bet you’ll be needing these products on your build.)
  • Trex room: Explore this fully built screened-in porch with a shed roof, vinyl sleeves, Trex decking, and Wolf vinyl railing. The face shows glass horizontal Sunspace windows with a glass protective kickplate. There’s also a Sunspace storm door. To get a sense of your options, the back wall is left as vinyl siding, and the side wall shows what it looks like to upgrade to shiplap. This is an example of a cost-effective but beautiful, high-quality, functional space.
  • All-season room: The next space features 2-cm Archatrak porcelain pedestal pavers. (These are especially amazing for rooftop decks, allowing you to easily disassemble and reassemble your deck floor in order to replace the roof or to repair any roof damage.) The space also includes a cabinet for holding an extra large Big Green Egg and mounted Infratech heaters at eight feet high.
  • AZEK room: This gable roof screen porch has AZEK railing, AZEK coastline decking boards, and AZEK cladding on the back wall. There are also black horizontal Sunspace widows on the side, and a LARSON storm door.
