What is a helical pier ?

A helical pier is a type of deep foundation used to support decks, porches, additions, and other structures—especially in areas with poor soil conditions. It consists of a strong steel shaft with helical (spiral) plates welded to it, which is screwed deep into the ground using specialized equipment.

How it works: The “helix” plates pull the pier into stable soil as it’s rotated, providing solid support without the need for heavy excavation or concrete footings.

Benefits:

  • Ideal for sites with soft, unstable, or fill soil
  • Minimal disturbance to the landscape
  • Installation is fast and often unaffected by weather
  • Provides immediate load-bearing capacity

Helical piers are a great foundation solution for many residential and commercial projects.
