Can you tell me the difference between Azek and Trex decking?
Azek and Trex are both top-quality decking brands, but there are key differences between them:
- Material: Azek decking is made entirely from PVC (polyvinyl chloride), while Trex is a composite blend of recycled wood fibers and plastic.
- Durability: Azek is highly resistant to moisture, rot, and insects—making it ideal for areas with heavy rain or humidity. Trex is also very durable and resists fading, staining, and mold, but because it contains wood fibers, it may be slightly more susceptible to moisture over very long periods.
- Maintenance: Both products are low-maintenance compared to wood. Azek won’t splinter, and it never needs staining or sealing. Trex only needs occasional cleaning.
- Appearance: Trex mimics the look of natural wood with rich textures and colors. Azek offers smooth, consistent finishes and a wide range of colors, but is often a bit more uniform in appearance.
- Cost: Both are premium options, but Azek (PVC) typically comes with a higher price tag than standard Trex composites due to material and manufacturing costs.
Choosing the best option depends on your specific needs, climate, and budget. We can provide samples and guidance to help you decide.
