Conceived as a means of replacing an ailing Potomac home's original deck, this large low-maintenance sun deck with Zuri decking includes ample space for sitting and entertaining, as well as a screened porch with an open gable roof, two Velux skylights, and a SCREENEZE fiberglass screening system to keep bugs out during the muggy Maryland summers.
The custom deck design ensures usability during night and day with a Trex lighting package with recessed lights, efficient lights installed on the exterior railing posts, and light fixtures. The handrail balusters are custom wrought iron with an Ipe topcap handrail and white PVC trim. The deck is made of low-maintenance Zuri deck boards, whereas the porch's decking is tongue-and-groove mahogany hardwood. As part of the home renovations, a slider door was installed was installed to access the deck, and new double French doors were installed inside the screened-in porch into the dining room. An awning window was also put in place.
