Summary

Nestled in the historic Carderock Springs neighborhood of Rockville, Maryland is a home with a rejuvenated living room crafted by Design Builders, Inc. The purpose of this interior renovation was to address the lack of light and outdated fireplace of the original design.

The most prominent feature of the remodel is the new gas fireplace. Sporting a sleek and thin profile, it features natural stone subway tiles that extend from the neutral black hearth to the moderately angled ceiling. A floating mantel shelf provides a place for pictures and decorations to be displayed, while two mounted light fixtures, low-voltage under-shelf lighting, and the remote-operated fireplace guarantee they’ll be visible during any time of day.

Four custom clerestory windows flank the upper portion of the fireplace cladding, which allow ample natural light to penetrate the open floor plan of the two-story home. These intelligently designed fixtures feature white frames with embedded low-voltage lights for uplighting and illumination.

Similarly, a trio of stylish, offset floating wood shelves installed by the adjacent dining area boast fully-functioning inset lights beneath each shelf that provide energy efficient lighting for a nice ambience.
