Why Select Zuri Decking Over Hardwood?

Hardwood floors and decks are associated with elegance, beauty, and the comforts of a well-loved home. A hardwood deck can provide a luxurious extension to your home and give your property a natural look. Unfortunately, there are also some downsides to hardwood. These include:

  • Its cost.

There’s no getting around it: hardwood is one of the most expensive decking materials you can choose, especially if you go with a high-end choice like maple or English sycamore. Everyone wants to have a gorgeous deck, but you shouldn’t have to break the bank to build it.

  • Its life span.

Unfortunately, a hardwood deck isn’t going to stay in pristine condition forever. Since it’s exposed to the elements, it probably isn’t even going to stay pristine through its first four seasons. Temperature changes can warp the wood and cause it to crack, while sun and rain can cause the color to change over time. Termites can decide to make a meal out of your hardwood. You may also notice scuffs and scratches from people and pets walking across the deck. Unfortunately, you may find yourself needing to replace your decking material all too soon.

  • Its maintenance.

If you want your hardwood deck to maintain its rich color, you’ll likely need to refinish it every few years.

  • Its environmental impact.

Hardwood, especially the rarer kinds, is often taken from areas that have already been negatively impacted by deforestation. To make matters worse, if you end up needing to replace your hardwood deck in a few years’ time, then you’ll end up using and discarding even more of this precious resource.

Get the Look of Hardwood without the Negatives—Choose Zuri

This post isn’t meant to discourage you from installing a deck at all. Rather, as a Zuri deck installer in Maryland, we here at Design Builders MD want to encourage you to look into Zuri Decking as an alternative to hardwood. We’ve already talked about a lot of low maintenance Zuri Decking’s benefits in previous posts: it’s cheaper, won’t change color or warp, is scratch and stain-resistant, is low maintenance, and even comes with an unprecedented 25-year warranty. But perhaps the best part is how closely it resembles exotic hardwood.

Take a look at the above image. If you didn’t know otherwise, you’d probably assume that deck was made out of hardwood, right? Even up close, Zuri Decking looks so much like hardwood that your family, friends, and neighbors will likely think that’s what it really is. Choosing Zuri is a great way to give yourself a beautiful, low maintenance deck—truly the best advantages of both wood and synthetic materials.
